About Alicia
Hello! I'm so glad to have you visiting the Freed As A Bird blog! My name is Alicia, the gal behind 'FAAB.' I'm a 31 year old mother, living in the desert with my amazing husband, of 9+ years, Ryan.
Together we have four beautiful kids; Scarlett (7), Hudson (5), Sorelle (3), and
Boden (Born March 2020)! We also have a fur baby, Joey the puggle (12). Being a wife and mother is the light of my life.
I'm from a small Colorado town where I met my husband just before graduating high school. We were working at the same summer job, where he won over the new girl (me), by bringing me 'Arnold Palmers' and chocolate chip cookies everyday (swoon!). He got up the courage to ask me out after my first week there and while the job didn't last much longer, the relationship did, and for that I'm forever grateful.
I moved to Arizona a year later, where I attended TONI&GUY Academy for cosmetology, but I quickly realized there was something lacking for me, a little thing called passion. Kind of an important one. I graduated in 2008, got licensed and decided to get a job in fashion sales instead.
In late 2009, Ryan and I took a leap into the unknown and decided to start an online business. It started out as a small side gig for us, but when our first child was born in early 2013, I was ready to go full time so I could be with our baby girl. Now 7 1/2 years later and a total of 4 businesses, it has been both our full time jobs since 2016. Serious blessing!
After baby number 3 arrived, I was having a lot of difficulty losing the extra weight... actually I have had issues with my weight my entire life, but after 3 kids there was just a new level of motivation to get in shape. I knew that if I wanted to have something I've never had, then I would have to do something I've never done. So I hired a trainer & nutritionist for the first time. There is enough information about that experience for a blog post or two, or seven, so I'll skip to the end where I'll just say it completely changed my life.
Radical life changes lead to new found interests and passions. Out of that bloomed a new idea to start a blog where I could have a creative outlet that was just mine, and hopefully inspire others to live the life of their dreams.
So thank you for taking time to read this and I hope we can be friends!
About Freed As A Bird
FAAB is a lifestyle and motherhood blog where you can come for fashion inspiration, beauty tips, motherhood + parenting advice, health + fitness motivation and home projects.
I had an idea to start a blog after some major life changes, but I didn't start for a long time because I let my fear get in the way of what people would think, and constantly comparing myself with people who were already successful at it.
When I finally decided that I would not let my fear and doubt get in the way of how I wanted to live my life, Freed As A Bird was born.
I wanted to create a blog that would inspire women daily to live their best life, feel beautiful and confident in their own skin, while maybe having a laugh or two relating to my chaotic life.
Thank you so much for visiting! It really means the world to me!
Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.
